"Using your dowsing crystal, you must overcome the elements, uncover ancient mysteries, avoid the attentions of a tyrannical ruler and save the last of the dragon eggs."
Dragon Dowser is a solo journaling card game using the Carta system by Peach Garden Games.
You play a mysterious character known as a 'Dowser'. Your aim is to locate abandoned dragon eggs and return them to your Sanctuary. If you succeed before expending your resources, the hatchling you rescue will be reared to change the kingdom forever!
Throughout this task, you will be tested in four distinct ways, each associated with a different playing card suit:
♥️ Community: Associated with culture and people.
♣️ Conflict: Associated with war and intolerance.
♦️ Mystery: Associated with exploration and secrets.
♠️ Survival: Associated with landscape and weather.
The Carta system will have you traversing a spread of 24 playing cards (6x4 grid) answering journaling prompts as you go. Your aim is to find a preselected dragon egg (Ace) and return it safely to your Sanctuary (Joker). The beauty of journaling games is in the sheer variety of potential stories. With 48 cards, each displaying three open-ended questions, every play through will be unique and every experience distinctly personal.

BOOK, CARDS & PDF
The cards and book are good quality, the art is beautiful. The suits all have a different background (excluding the face cards) and each of the aces have a unique egg inspired by the theme of the suit. I really love the artwork and (as someone without the artistic skill to do it myself) if they were ever to do a token pack for resources tracking and a character marker (similar to the example movement page) I would certainly want it.
Having played a game I found it very enjoyable, although I think (like many similar solo rpgs) the replayability is dependent on your creative ability. It is on the shorter end of solo rpg (40ish pages)
As someone who likes to have physical media and is a sucker for cards/dice that suit a game I love this so much. Although it did come with a PDF
Delivery was quick (the smallest delay that did occur was with Royal Mail) and well packaged.
Customer service was brisk when I had a question before purchasing (within an hour for me) and they were very helpful in clearing up my confusion.
!NITPICKING!
If there was ever a version two of the cards it would be nice if the artwork for the face cards was also unique to the same theme (even if it was just a reskin – such as different colour) as at the moment as all of the Ks are the same regardless of suite only a small marker in the corners differentiating them (the same with the other face cards)
The two sanctuary (joker) cards are identical but while it would be nice to have some slight variation there is no need for Dragon dowser.
I think this is so noticeable because all the other cards in the suite are so tied to the associated themes.
